Abstract
The work is based on the study of seven inscriptions from the
territory of Salona which cite the term cognatio in the context of a
religious association, and which is specific to the aforementioned
region. An analysis of these finds has facilitated the initiation of
debate on the functioning and features of cognatii, and their role
as part of the cult of the Magna Mater, whereby Salona confirmed
itself as a very important metroac centre.
