Abstract

Delinquent and aggressive behavior in children and young people encourages greater interest of society to this problem. By defining, discovering the causes of behavior and the factors that influence the risk of developing behavioral disorders one attempts to discover what affects the prevention of such behavior. According to research, intelligence, sex, problem solving, a positive environment, education, quality use of leisure time, etc. affect the empowerment of positive behaviors. Although it is not yet proven, research has shown that religion has a positive effect on the prevention of delinquent and aggressive behavior. The article attempts to determine which components of Don Bosco’s educational system influence the prevention of behavioral disorders. Don Bosco’s preventive program implies education based on Christian values, the sacramental life and a relationship of trust and respect between educators and pupils. One contemporary example is "Scala", a non-profit, non governmental and apolitical organization inspired by Don Bosco’s educational system which through its programs attempts to develop resistance to risk factors that surround children and youth in modern cities.
