Abstract

The author questions the institutionalized method of studying the influence of electoral systems upon political life. Her case studies are the elections in Croatia, Serbia, and Macedonia. In all three states the same electoral system was used - the two-stages majority electoral system, i.e. elections by absolute majority, yet the political effects were substantianally different. They manifested themselves in the different types of party parliamentary system, the composition of each parliament and the relations of strenth in them, as well as in the types of executive power.
