Abstract

Having in mind the demand for energy and power in the long-term period, and responsibility for its existence, growth and development, as well as meeting the needs of its customers, JP “Elektroprivreda hrvatske zajednice Herceg Bosne” d.d. (EPHZHB) Mostar has been working for more than a decade on pre-construction of power facilities based on utilization of renewable energy sources (RES – particularly wind energy and water resources), fossil fuels and possible gasification of the area under the responsibility of EPHZHB. At a time when uncertainty is certain, it is important to concentrate on today for better tomorrow projects with the support of the local community, BiH authorities and particularly of international institutions. In this respect, the Mesihovina Wind Farm Project has a special position. The paper deals with the basic characteristics of the Mesihovina Wind Farm Project, wind potential analyses, the project implementation progress and schedule with an emphasis on documents preparation and obtaining permits as well as on obstacles during the project implementation with the proposal of measures for putting renewable energy sources projects at a higher level.
