Abstract

The paper presents the optimization of scalar mathematical functions and the multiple-criteria optimization of a fourbar mechanism trajectory based on genetic algorithms. The genetic algorithm optimizes the parameters of the Hoeken fourbar mechanism which approximates rectilinear motion along a part of its trajectory. The optimization problem related to the fourbar mechanism parameters is observed as having two criteria due to the fact that it is necessary to simultaneously satisfy the position of the end point of the mechanism on both the x-axis and the y-axis. The algorithm, which is realized in the JavaScript programming language, optimizes the parameters of the Hoeken fourbar mechanism which are synthesized in the SAM 6.0 software tool.
