Abstract
The purpose of this article is to investigate the teaching about Sabbath
first in the prophetic writings. Aside from the appearance of this subject in the three major prophets, Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel it is present also in the minor prophets Amos and Hosea. In the historical literature of the Old Testament, references to the Sabbath are relatively sparse.
The Sabbath appears only in 2 Kings and in the work of the chronicler.
