Abstract
This paper analyzes the technological and industrial security and stability, an important aspect of economic security. Croatia, a member of the European Union, could and has to be analyzed its technological and industrial safety and ability through competitiveness compared to EU standards and degree of technological and industrial capabilities
and security of other member countries. The European Commission has published a strategy for improving industrial products based on Key Enabling Technologies (KET). Therefore, the development of KET segment as an indicator of development of technological and industrial safety and capacity of Croatia is analyzed from the aspect of the number of patent applications in certain categories of KET. From the analysis it could be concluded that Croatia implementation of KET has been really weak over the last 12 years. In the future it is necessary that the development of KET becomes a priority in Croatia, which
requires a more rigid approach in establishing a legal monopoly. The analysis of Technology development indicators (significance, specialization, market share and dynamics) for EU28, in order to analyze the movement of KET categories development in Croatia
compared to other EU countries in the period from 2000 to 2010 in a comparative analysis of technology indicators of each KET segment. The further results of the analysis confirm the fact that the implementation of KET in Croatia is extremely low compared to other
Member States and other most industrialized countries.
