Abstract

Teachers’ motivation for work with students with specific learning
difficulties (SLD) is a prerequisite for acquiring and practicing many teachers’ professional competences related to quality of students’ education. The research started from the following research problems. These are:
1. Determining the diff erence in the assessment of the degree of meeting the criteria of motivation for work with students with SLD with regard to teachers’ experience in working with students with SLD.
2. Determining the difference in the assessment of the degree of meeting the criteria of motivation for work with students with SLD with regard to teachers’ length of service.
3. Determining the difference in the assessment of the degree of meeting the criteria of motivation for work with students with SLD with regard to teachers’ work in educational system.
T-tests that were conducted in order to verify the differences among teachers in estimating the degree of meeting the criteria of motivation with regard to the three characteristics analyzed showed that teachers mostly differ with regard to type of their instruction (subject or classroom instruction), followed by their experience in working with students with SLD, and finally with regard to the minimum length of service in school system.
