Abstract

Demographic of aging population in highly developed countries of Western Europe has caused new social and economical trends,
which served as a base for international project Ellan, launched in order to produce a joint European framework of basic competency standards for working with older people. The role of institutions for higher education and the concept of lifelong learning are crucial for quality-raising of vocational training and professional advancement of human resources included in working with older people. Quality- raising of high education, greater employability and a contribution to social, medical and economical sector are some of the expected results of the project implementation on national and international level
