Abstract

The paper is based on the analysis of R&D impact on export competitiveness of the chemical industry in selected OECD countries in the period between 1996 and 2008. The testing is based on the application of several panel analysis models. The objective of the
paper is to measure the impact of R&D activity and the selected independent variables on export activity based on a group of results on the export/import ratio, R&D activity, gross investments in fixed capital, labour costs per employee and domestic demand of the
selected countries. In accordance with the basic hypothesis of the paper, R&D can have a significant impact on export competitiveness of the chemical industry in the selected OECD countries.
