Abstract

Dietzsch cement kilns effectively stimulated the technological development of building industry in Dalmatia. Designed in 1885, the kilns were installed over the next three decades in Split, Hvar, Sv. Kaj, Majdan and Kaštel Suæurac following the expansion of cement industry to new territories. Reinforced concrete kilns helped to promote the potential of cement as a modern building material.
