Abstract

The author analyses the notion of parrhesia, based on Michel Foucault’s interpretation of parrhesia in ancient Greek culture, and its verification in the early Christianity. The parrhesia of Jesus is in the center of attention, inasmuch it was his everyday practice (as a harmony of words and deeds, in contrast to the hypocrisy). An overview of the New Testament concept of parrhesia is given, as well as the Augustine’s understanding of the parrhesia, and his rejection of lie.
