The Preservation of Archaeological Glass

Abstract

This article describes the preservation of archaeological
glass, its composition and the factors that influence its
decay. It describes the processes of glass conservation from
the moment of excavation, the restoration procedures
performed in a conservation-restoration workshop (cleansing,
consolidation, desalination, integration and gap-filling), and
the proper storage, handling and display of glass objects.
