Fire boats on inland waters

Abstract

Boats that can be used for fire-fighting intervention in inland waters with its maneuverability must allow safe and quick rescue in all conditions. There are various types of boats with regard to form, the material from which they are made and their size and capacity. Responsible job of correct choice of the boat is easier thanks to technical guidance and experience in the application in other European countries. An example of regulation of this area are the technical guidelines and standards in Germany, Austria and Slovenia. In the introductory part of the paper a basic information and regulations on inland waterways in the country will be presented with a focus on the specifics of inland watertraffic and waterways. Work will continue to deal with the analysis of standards and technical guidelines of some European countries as well as experiences in applying these vessels with a special focus on typing the vessels and their technical characteristics. Finally, through the presentation and analysis of individual technical solutions it will giv us the proposal of categorization of fire boats and guidelines for the selection of acceptable solutions to fit the specific needs of fire departments.
