Abstract

The history and past of the Croatian area of Lika and the Catholic Church within it were analysed and the results published in numerous works. In this particularly stands out is the former first chief as the bishop of its first Gospić-Senj bishopric Mons. Mile Bogović Ph.D. Besides being a priest and church leader he also stands out as a scholar/historiographer, craftsman and publicist, and the head of church commissions. He was a university professor and a publication’s
editor. He has published a series of books and many discussions and articles (as well as very critical contents) particularly about the very complex fate of Croats as Catholics in Lika, who were also under the attack of many occupiers, for example, the Ottomans. He writes about the events in distant history and recent past plus the present. In his latest book from 2014 he presents some of his already published articles about Lika and its Catholic Church in a number of
chapters, but mostly with some supplemented results of his new research in the sources and insights into older and more recent Croatian and foreign literature.
