Abstract

Cupid i.e. Amor in the literary culture of the Medieval and Early Modern
Period was not only an ornamental decoration, but "expanding its area of identity it became involved in cultural work" (J. K. Smith). The paper therefore, after a brief overview of the Cupidian motif in ancient, Medieval and Renaissance literary and iconographic culture, analyzes the concept and the role of Cupid in Pjesanca mladosti prva by Mavro Vetranović.
