Abstract

The activity of the Photosystem. II in isolated chloroplasts from black pine cotyledons grown in the dark and in the light was followed. Both chloroplasts — formed in the light and in the dark were able to evolve oxygen in the presence of potassium ferricyanide immediately after being exposed to light. ADP stimulates oxygen evolution in both chloroplasts preparations. NH., Cl stimulates oxygen evolution only in chloroplasts formed in the light. Chloroplasts formed in the dark can synthesize ATP by non-cyclic photophosphorilation.
