Ruderal and weed vegetation of Strahinščica mountain region

Abstract
Associated usually with human settlements ruderal and weed vegetation did not find too many stands favourable to its development in the area investigated, because Strahinščica is mostly covered by woods and settlements are situated only at the foot of the mountain (Podgora, Donje and Gornje Strahinje, Krapina Zutnica, Radoboj, Gornji and Donji Kamenečki etc.). Nevertheless, ten associations, in most cases typically developed and more or less well characterized, have been established in the area. They belong to the following classes: Bidentetea (Polygono-Bidentetum), Chenopodietea (Panico-Galinsogetum, Cirsio- Stachyetum palustris, Urtico-Malvetum neglectae, Echio-Melilotetum), Artemisietea (Alliario-Chaerophylletum temuli, Tanaceto-Artemisietum, Plantaginetea (Lolio-Plantaginetum) and Molinio-Arrhenatheretea (Junco-Menthetum longifoliae).
The communities mentioned here develop more often on anthropogenic rather than on natural stands.
The biological spectrum shows that hemicryptophytes prevail in the ruderal communities, while the weed communities (Panico-Galinsogetum, and Cirsio-Stachyetum palustris) are of a therophytic nature (See Table 11).
