Abstract

Nitrophilous edge community Anthriscetum trichospermae in northern Croatia was studied. The present paper deals with its floristic composition, habitat characteristics and distribution within the region. The floristic composition of Croatian stands of Anthriscetum trichospermae is very similar to that of Czechoslovakia. Anthriscetum trichospermae occurs on the margins of hedges, scrubs and woods in the hill-sides. In northern Croatia it was found only in areas belonging to extrazonal and zonal vegetation of Quercetalia pubescentis. In the western part of the area investigated this thermophilous association develops on the southern slopes of Mt. Medvednica, Ivančica and Kalnik, in areas belonging to extrazonal Querco-Ostryetum carpinijoliae. In the eastern part of northern Croatia, belonging to Guerdon frainetto-zone, it occurs on the slopes exposed northeastwards. The difference in the exposition between the stands of Anthriscetum trichospermae in the western and eastern parts of northern Croatia is connected with the differences in climate and phytogeographical characteristics of the areas.
