Abstract

This contribution deals with three moist meadow communities; one -of them, Deschampsietum cespitosae Horvatic 1930, shows a Submediterranean distribution tendency, the other two, Serratulo-Plantagine- tum altissimae Ilijanic 1968, and Gentiano-Molinietum arundinaceae Ili-janic 1968, have a Submediterranean-Subcontinental area of distribution. While Deschampsietum cespitosae extends from Croatia to Austria in an impoverished form or in the form of Deschampsietum molinietosum cae- ruleae Kovacs 1962, Serratulo-Plantaginetum altissimae finds suitable sites for its development in the eastern part of Lower Austria, which represents a linking distribution area between Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia. The same generally applies to Gentiano-Molinietum arundinaceae which was found in southern Moravia not long ago.
