Abstract

The illyric species Scilia litardierei Breistr. (= Sc. pratensis Waldst. et Kit.) is one of endemic plants of Yugoslavia distributed over the lowland grasslands, mainly on the carst fields from Slovenia (where it was recently found) through Croatia, Bosnia and Hercegovina to Montenegro.
It was most often noted as a character species of the Submediterranean alliance Molinio-Hordeion secalini H-ić, but in the northern parts of the area it also enters the communities of the Molinion caeruleae and Arrlienatherion.
The species was found in 1989 on the territory between Kostajnica and Petrinja in the valley of the river Sunja (Fig. 1) in the Bromo-Cyno- suretum cristati H-ić grassland (Arrlienatherion). The new found is the nearest to the Sava river so far, showing that this illyric plant is also spreading in the lowland area of northern Croatia.
However, it has not been found north of the river Sava so far. It is to be supposed that the species Scilla litardierei has not yet crossed the river Sava.
