Abstract
The results of current phytocoenological investigations of nitrophi- lous vegetation of forest edges, belonging to the alliance Alliarion are presented. The alliance Alliarion in Croatia is represented by six associations. They are: 1. Epilobio-Geranietum robertiani, 2. Dipsacetum pilosi, 3. Torilidetum japonicae, 4. Anthriscetum cerefolii-trichospermae, 5. Alli- ario-Chaerophylletum temuli, and 6. Myrrhoidi-Geranietum lucidi. The floristic composition, the range and features of habitats of each community are briefly described.
The vegetation of the alliance Alliarion in the northern parts of Croatia, which belong to the Euro-Siberian vegetation region, is represented by Central European communities known earlier. In the southern parts of Croatia, which belong to the Mediterranean vegetation region, the vegetation of the alliance Alliarion is spread in the sub-Mediterranean zone only. A specific thermophilous vegetation of this alliance has developed there; it includes numerous sub-Mediterranean and Mediterranean elements. Two communities new to the sub-Mediterranean zone of Croatia are described, as well as an association (Myrrhoidi-Geranietum lucidi) and a sub-association (Alliario-Chaerophylletum temuli poetosum silvicolae).
