Scientific Research in Botany According to Acta Botanica Croatica

Abstract
A survey of scientific research in botanies in Croatia has been obtained by a bibliometric analysis of the journal Acta Botanica Croatica. The ten-year period from 1979 to 1988 has been analysed. With regard to the subject of research two main groups may be differentiated: group A (59%) deals with phytocenology, phytogeography, ecology and taxonomy, and group B (41%) with physiology, citology, embryology and molecular biology. In both groups the structure of citation, obsolescence of references and the languages of citation have been identified. The possibility of including Acta Botanica Croatica in Science Citation Index is discussed.
