Impatiens balfourii Hooker fil. in Croatia

Abstract

The adventive plant species Impatiens balfourii Fiooker fil. (Balsaminaceae) was noted for the first time for Croatia by Pericin (1992) in Istria. Probably at the same time Impatiens balfourii was found also in the interior of Croatia. Several new records are now presented from the northwestern part of Croatia, in Hrvatsko Zagorje (Krapinske Toplice and Kraljevec near Budinšćina) and Zagreb (Zelengaj and Jelenovac). Impatiens balfourii is found here in the nitrophilic vegetation, mostly on wood-margins and roadsides. The authors show the present state of its distribution in the territory of Croatia (Fig. 1). Observation of its spreading in Croatia is continuing.
