Abstract

On the basis of an analysis of a large number of synonyms in the extensive floristic literature (Josch 1863, Schlosser & Vukotinović 1869, Tommasini 1895, Ascherson & Graebner 1901, Rossi 1930, Hayek 1933, Degen 1936) referring to the species Cutandia divaricata (Desf.) Benth., it can be concluded that C. divaricata does not belong to Croatian flora. Most frequently it has been mistaken for robust specimens of the species Scleropoa rígida.
C. marítima (L.) Benth. is a new species of Croatian flora. It was discovered in 1994. in Crnika Bay on the island of Rab, and abundant herbarial material was collected (Fig. 1). C. marítima is also a new species in the entire eastern Adriatic littoral from the Gulf of Trieste in the north to Otranto in the south.
