Abstract
Today's trend of producing healthy and the cheapest possible food can not be ignored in fish breeding. Fish breeding has been know for ages as an alternative form of animal breeding. However, only recently bigger efforts have been made in improving the quality of breeding due to better knowledge of anatomic and physiological characteristics of the fish. A particularly great improvement has been made in feeding, which is the most important factor in achieving the best results and prevent diseases in fish. Special feeding characteristics of fish are connected with the type of feeding behavior /herbivores, carnivores and both/ and feeding habits of fish /from predatories to parasites/ as well as with the medium where they live, i. e. water. Fish feed should stay intact in water for some time, must contain all the nutritional and biologically active substances in order to satisfy the sustaining and reproductive needs of fish.
