Abstract

Many children have difficulties in learning mathematics and the question is how to help a disabled child and make mathematics interesting and accessible to all children. This paper presents some practical
methods and activities by means of which this can be achieved. There are various didactic materials which can be used when teaching mathematics to children with difficulties. Some of them are as follows: Stern blocks, Cuisenaire rods, Unix cubes, abacus, Dienes blocks, etc. This paper will present the activities that can be performed by using Cuisenaire rods.
