Abstract

Resilience is a concept that has been increasingly explored in the field of psychosocial science. This also sheds
light on number of ambiguities in the conceptualization and operationalization of this phenomenon. Through fifty years
of development, the concept went from the individual to the broader environment of individual (family, community, culture). Accordingly, ambiguities that appeared in the field of individual resilience were transferred to the field of family and
community resilience. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of family resilience conceptualization, in the contemporary literature. Furthermore, operationalization of family resilience concept in the research Specific characteristics of
families at risk: contribution to complex interventions planning(Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, University
of Zagreb) is presented in the paper.
