Abstract
In 1958-1960 year investigations were made to determine diseases (except, smuts) wich are most prevalent on wheat in our country. The evidence presented shows that several diseases damaged the crops of wheat. Following diseases were found: Septoria tritici, S. nodorum, Ophiobolus graminis, Erysiphe graminis, Cercosporella herpotrichoides, Fusarium graminearum, Puccinia graminis, P. triticina. Leaf lesions of Septoria spp. were severe, and damaged the wheat crop from the early spring to ripening. Wheat suffers the great damage of Ophiobolus graminis and Erysiphe graminis. These diseases are the most prevalent, because the rotation of crop is reduced. Less injured were the crops of Fusarium graminearum, Puccinia spp. and Cercosporella herpotrichoides. Black and brown rust appear on wheat rather late in the season ,and the crops suffer little injury. Isolations were made to determine what parasitic fungi were present in the seeds of wheat. Less than 2 per cent of seeds were infected, and the causal organism was identified as the fungus Fusarium graminearum.
