CROATIAN NAMES FOR OLD FRUIT VARIETIES (1415-1879)

Abstract

The paper presents the abbreviated alphabetical lists of old Croatian terminology of fruit species and varieties published in Bogoslav Šulek's „Yugostav Directory of Plant Names“, Zagreb, 1879. These terms were collected from a number of manuscripts (the oldest dated from the year 1415), the oldest dictionaries and published references until the year 1879. This information will be very useful in determining still existing fruit varieties as well as in germplasm collecting and characterization for Croatian Bank of Plant Genes.
