Abstract

Crowdfunding is open call to general populace, usually made by the web page, to invest money in particular project or business venture. By using the crowdfunding platforms project initiators and project backers who are usually not professional investors are being connected. Crowdfunding is alternative way of fi nancing innovative and creative projects but can be applied to many other business and social areas which we will describe in this paper. The aim of this paper is to show the basic characteristics of crowdfunding, its advantages and disadvantages and to raise the question of its legal regulation. Also we want show if crowdfunding has any potential to develop in Croatia.
