Abstract

The article studies a proensity in Belgian francophone literature a propensity observable since the 19th century and to this day, to associate image to text. The chosen angle is that of spatialization of poetic texts. Though examining the graphic and/or typographic experiments of poets like Elskamp, de Bosschère or Nougé, or the investigations of Dotremont and Broodthaers, it aims to show that, notwithstanding the variety of forms and methods, an outstanding continuity – connected to joint treatment of text and image – is at work in Belgian francophone poetry.
