Abstract

Phytophthora chrysanthemi - new species causing crown and root rot of chrysanthemum was found in Croatia during phytosanitary inspections in 2008 and 2009. Disease symptoms, methods of isolation and identification as well as basic morphological features are described in this paper. Possible losses in chrysanthemum production and protection measures are discussed. To our knowledge, this is the first time that P. chrysanthemi has been reported in Croatia and Europe.
