Abstract

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is our most important cereal of bread-making quality. Smut infected wheat was detected in five Croatian counties in 2012, which proved presence of almost forgotten stinking smut in Republic of Croatia. Therefore, symptomatology and biology of smut fungi (Tilletia spp.) are briefly described, as well as control measures in order to prevent disease expansion and losses in future.
