Abstract

The correction introduced by V. Gortan who believed that the word 'hiacum' (“having no meaning” in Marulić's 'Davidias' V 23 should be read as 'hiatum' cannot be retained, because it is obvious from another autograph of Marulić, i. e. the Repertorium (fol.l67) that it is his usual spelling for 'Iacchum', and consequently the controversial point gives a completely clear meaning: '(Nabal) exhaustum totum consumpsit hiacum = Iacchum = Bacchum = vinum'.
