Abstract

The manual What Is a Museum Catalogue? edited by Snježana Radovanlija Mileušnić derived from the first in a series of educational
workshops of the Museum Documentation Centre under the umbrella title How is a good museum book published? which dealt with the problem of contemporary museum publishing. It was also the first book from the imprint How is a good museum book published?
In the making of the manual What is a museum catalogue?, eight authors took part. Concrete questions were posed in their writings and direct answers and definitions were obtained, all of them supported with examples of good practice from diverse Croatian museum institutions. The manual What is a museum catalogue? is the first reference work in Croatian museology that is devoted to museum publishing, one of the basic activities of a museum. For this very reason, such a manual is needed for all Croatian museums and essential reading for students of the information sciences (museology, librarianship and archival studies) and beyond.
