Abstract

Using interdisciplinary methodology, this paper
analyses the annual exhibitions of the Soros Center for
Contemporary Art Zagreb (SCCA-Zagreb) held between 1993
and 1998, as a place of networking within the Croatian visual arts
scene. In addition to approaching the work of the SCCA-Zagreb
in the transitional context and the exhibitions of the SCCA in
the cultural context of the 1990s, this paper mostly relies on the
application of exploratory network analysis, contextualizing
its results within an art historical framework. Specifically, the
positions of individual members in the network are analysed and
interpreted. Such an approach provides us with insight into the
internal dynamics of the SCCA network created by its exhibition
activities, as well as offers guidelines for further research of the
SCCA activities on the local, regional and transnational level.
