Abstract

This paper discusses about educational standards in traditional and contemporary context of the arts curriculum in public schools. Approach to the standards was presenting in three diferent ways: content, performance and organisation. In each of these levels are a oportunity for comparation in a different concepts, with a pragmatic goal to create the basis for optimal education. In the content area, standards are thematises in relation of availability, quality, relevance, presentation, critique judgement and interdisiplinarity. Starting point for the performance standards is to define competence, especially in a croatian educational scope and direct contextualization to a sustainable growth. Overall framework of previous categories determines consideration about the resources standards, actually an opportunity-to-learn standards in the school curriculum, in which schools, communities and arts institutions produce impressive results in eduactional and artistic activities.
