Abstract

The importance of different diets in prevention of industrial, poisonings is reported. In the first chapter the autor deals with hepatotoxic poisons (TNT, DNB, chloroform, etc.) and coms to the conclusion that the usual milk diet is not onli unsuitable but harmful because of its high fat content. He recomends Carbohydrate and protamin diet. Extra vitamins are not necessary. In the work with hematotoxic poisons (benzen, also X ray am Ra radiation) a diet with high content of vitamin C and K is recommended. The importance of this diet is fully explained. He also recomends protamin diet because of its content is the sulphur containing aminoacid, methionine, whose important action on the blood forming apparatus is generally known. The last chapter deals with lead and radium poisonings. In this group of poisons the beat prophylactic diet is one with low calcium and high phosphorus content. Milk, eggs and fish are recomende. Extra vitamins are again unnecessary. Fat in any form has no specific prophylactic action in these poisonings.
