Abstract

The goal of this paper is to describe the behavior towards women entrepreneurs of the Albanian national minority in Croatia and Macedonia. It researches the opinion of the Albanian national minority members about women as entrepreneurs or owners of a company. The study was carried out because the Albanian women still need to fight for their position not only with the opposite sex, but also with the entrenched patriarchal beliefs in their surroundings.
In order to prove that Albanian women today can be successful entrepreneurs or have successful business careers, while at the same time being both mothers and housewives, this paper shows examples of female entrepreneurs in both countries, Macedonia and Croatia. A survey was conducted with the aim to examine the opinions of the Albanian national minority citizens in Croatia and Macedonia about female entrepreneurship and the responses from Croatia and Macedonia's citizens were compared to ascertain the difference in attitudes between the two countries.
Based on the research it can be concluded that members of the Albanian national minority in both countries support and have a positive attitude about women's entrepreneurship and the emancipation of women. Patriarchal worldview of the minority members is more pronounced in Croatia, while Macedonia has greater social equality within the Albanian society where women are starting to have more rights and freedom in the economic sector.
