THE TRADITIONAL LANDSCAPE OF VELEBIT PODGORJE

Abstract

The author gives a synthesis of many years of field investigations of Podgorje on the theme
of the traditions of the so-called "old people", of buried treasure, fantastic creatures and events on
the boundaries of reality and the impossible. Based on the fact of how many recorded subjects are
deeply rooted in the narrative tradition of the local population and which relate to precisely defined
locations, the author tries to outline the contours of the traditional landscape of the area between
Velebit and the sea
