Abstract

In the standard practice of revetment building, the emphasis has been put on the fulfillment of their primary functions - regulatory and protective. Environmental and ecological network impact assessment procedures are being carried out for these projects. Due to the fact that consideration of measures for protection and mitigation of negative impacts usually starts at the stage of impact assessment, there is a significant slowdown in the implementation of projects of major importance for the protection of life and people’s property. This paper presents examples of good practice in the design and construction of revetments with included integrated approach – collaboration of civil engineers, biologists and landscape architects. Measures for mitigation negative impact on ecological network for planned project of revetment and embankment construction on the left bank of Kupa River from Selce to Rečica are also presented.
