Abstract

The main goal of this paper is to introduce the reader to the specific problems of automation of the process of the concrete manufacturing. The process of concrete manufacturing is managed through
the control program and the associated HMI interface that are designed and developed in the Siemens TIA Portal. Automation of the process begins with learning about the existing plant and the concrete manufacturing cycle. To be able to develop automation process, an automation developer must be familiar with the process better than the operator who will manage the process. Also, it is important to know the physical components of the system as well as software. The control program and associated HMI interface are described in detail in this paper. The control program provides the required control of concrete manufacturing. It consists of a manual and automatic mode. It also includes protection and the associated alarms that are activated when motor protection is active or if the necessary conditions for the operation have not been met. The second part of the management process of concrete manufacturing consists of production of the HMI user interface that provides adequate visualization of the process and allows the operator to manage the manufacturing process of concrete. Invalid state of the system triggers alarms. Alarms and manufacturing data are transferred to the higher ‒ level of the HMI system (HMI ‒ Human Machine Interface).
