Abstract

Advanced texturing is a process which involves different kinds of maps applied to a 3D model that give it color, details, shininess and other properties. That kind of texturing can be done in many different ways depending on the needs and possibilities of the particular project. For adequate textures it is best to use image editing software like Adobe Photoshop because it can directly affect the way in which the textures are displayed on the 3D model. A big part of texturing are UV’s. With UV’s we can set the boundaries called UV maps of the texture and draw the texture within. It’s important to organize the UV space so that the texture can be correctly displayed,
with the same level of detail on every part of the model, without faulty spots. It’s also important to choose the correct material because it is used as a base for the texture. The main elements explained in this paper are related to textures, UV mapping in Autodesk Maya, the procedure of textures making, usage of Photoshop and CrazyBump for generating textures, and making of a realistic scene using the above mentioned tools and techniques.
