Abstract

The paper deals with the problem of detecting the faults in the shaft interior. Such aforesaid axle damage is known as blackheads which can lead to shaft decompression resulting in fatal consequences in the traffic of rail traffic. In the framework of the research, a detailed ultrasonic inspection of the sectional inspection of wagon axes in the Croatian Railways network was carried out with the aim of reducing the risk of axle breakdown due to material fatigue. The obtained results can serve as a basis for the development of technical regulations for the maintenance of railway vehicles in the Croatian Railways Network.
