Abstract

The institution ofthe state responsibility for damage caused by illegal or irregulär work of its administrative or judicial bodies, as well as legal persons with public administrative powers delegated to them, are presented from the point of view o f législation and judicial practice. Article 13 o f the Law on the System of Public Administration is an explicit legal basis for the responsibility of thè state for damage and a wide legal basis for the protection of natural and legal persons whose
rights hâve been violated by the yvork o f governmental bodies. The Republic of Croatia is primarily and directly responsible for the work o f public servants, and in certain cases it has the right to compensation against the servant who caused the damage intentionally or by extreme négligence.
