Abstract

Adaptation in old age is only one special example of adaptation during the whole life. In this article some ways of adaptation in old age are described: constructive as the most positive way of adjustment, dependence, defending reactions, hostility and self-anger. Stresses and ways of coping with them are specific in old age. Well adapted old person will cope with problems better than not-adapted one. In planning of taking care for older per- sons it is specially important to think of relocation as source of stress; it can cause different reactions in persons who are not prepared to this and who did not move in their life.
