Abstract

The new Maritime Code of the Republic of Croatia has no provision regarding the sea waybill.
Discussing both, the fact that sea waybills are more and more in use in everyday maritime transport and that they are regulated by Hague Rules, Hamburg Rules, CMI Uniform Rules for Sea Waybills and Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits, 1994, and the fact that BIMCO has issued forms for sea waybills, the author arrives to the conclusion that the [Croatian] Maritime Code should be amended by introduction of rules and regulations regarding the sea waybills, as soon as possible.
