Abstract

This paper analyzes the dominant leadership style in the hospitality industry in Dubrovnik-Neretva County and demonstrates the interdependence between the characteristics and leadership style of managers in the hospitality industry in Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Previous empirical studies of leadership styles in the Republic of Croatia, have pertained to industrial enterprises, while empirical research of leadership styles in the hospitality industry has not been methodically conducted yet. Previous research shows that the dominant leadership style in industrial enterprises in the Republic of Croatia is autocratic, with parts of paternalistic and, in some segments of management, consultative leadership styles. This paper demonstrates that the leadership style in hospitality enterprises is considerably different of the leadership style in industrial enterprises.
