Abstract

This paper provides an evaluation of the reliability of air temperature data series measured at the weather station in Vitina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the period 1992-2011. The Vitina weather station does not belong to the network of institutional meteorological stations. To evaluate the reliability of data series from Vitina, they were compared with data obtained from measurements at nearby weather stations at Imotski and Široki Brijeg, for which there are reliable data series. For this purpose, the homogeneity of each data series was examined. The relative homogeneity method was used to compare all the data series. The study showed that the data series are relatively homogeneous in most cases. However, in certain parts of the year statistically significant differences were recorded and therefore the data from Vitina must be corrected for use in the regional climate analysis, which requires additional measurements.
